This survey shows a lot of bitter bottoms live in Williamport. I should also include Montoursville Borough as well. For a few pennies out everyones pocket we can give children a place to laugh and have fun. What better way to spend some change. We all just need to sit down and rememeber when we were kids. It's ok to have fun and laugh. If allow these pools to be shut down you are only hurting yourself and some kids who need a place that's safe and fun to swim.
Why close the pools? When the city was approached by three mothers to have the pools built they were instructed to raise about half of the funds and the city will get the rest.
This was to stop the drownings in the river that happen each year.
The three mothers went door to door and collected dimes, quarters and whatever so the city will have a safe place for the youth.
Why is it then that a group of concern citizens couldn't raise some funds to save our pools?
When I grew up in Williamsport back in the 60's we were always at the river at the swimming area at the SusquehannaPark or Lycoming creek reading railroad bridge. The pool was a bore to us kids.No fish,no bridge to jump off,no mud to squeeze between your toes. And it was free.
Is this poll inferring that the City's pool is losing a substantial amount of money? If so, how can anyone justify a pool that ***** tax payer's money away from necessary services?
