Now, why am I not surprised by the poll results? These protesters are at one end of the spectrum or the other. They are old hippies that never grew up or they are young kids that don't have a clue about how our country "used" to advantage by the premise of "free market."
I assume you are also discounting the fact that the protesters had food and other comfort measures. The large crowds gathered in urban areas drew in the perpetual homeless and mentally ill who are ever present in our large cities. I am not saying all, but many of the aberrant acts were committed by folks who would do so anyhow and would go unreported. For those who have seen the street people, out at night, looking for warmth, or coffee, you know the numbers and what the attraction to this group was.
IMHO, a bunch of spoiled brats. Granted, I'll assume there's biased reporting, but given the reports of various crimes and the mess they leave behind, at the very least they need a lesson in manners.
Yes, you are right. I guess I should have said it is not what the founding fathers had intended but has become.
The main Amendment that tipped the scales from the national government of the United States being a mere republic to being a true representative democracy was the often-overlooked Seventeenth Amendment, which took effect in 1913. Since 1913 the U.S. Senate has been elected directly by the voters, rather than being appointed by the state legislatures. That makes the republic democratic in form.
JimAlex, why are taking the actions of a select few and then projecting that onto the majority? Then you claim that "MOST" of the mob doesn't know why they are protesting? Did you talk to "MOST" of the mob, or did you simply tune into a biased news station?
@garder54: I picked "C" because of all the mayhem that mob of losers created with their disrespect for public and private property; their recorded incidents of fights, rapes, robberies, drug use and even a couple shootings. Yes this is a democracy; but that does not give that unruly bunch the right to run roughshod over the rights of the decent taxpayers who must clean up the excrement left behind. It should also be noted MOST of that mob had no idea what they were protesting. One comment locally was the protesters were protesting because there were no Black protesters. How idiotic is that?
So 49% picked C. I am assuming those same 49% thought the Tea Party protests were the best thing since Ronald Reagan. People are using the democratic system to voice their opinion, and some people who don't agree with them label them "self-centered". It's a democracy people, deal with it.

bad wording in questions. a is the closest but a generalization about Washington ruined the accuracy.
