@nobud74, I couldn’t agree with you more. Its like saying a cell phone is a luxury only the rich can afford. If you can afford a cell phone you can afford the $2 hands free headset (one time fee). Not to mention MOST cell phones not connected to plans or a network can still dial 911. BUT, it is nice to know that I fall under the super elite and filthy rich category because I can afford a cell phone!!!
I love the third option, what does having a phone for emergencies if you are poor have to do with anything? If it is an emergency, you are probably already stopped or at the scene, just more nonsense pitting "poor" against "rich."
The State Police could have a field day with this if it became a new law. There are way more people using a cell phone on 220 than there are speeders. The best is a cell phone texting in one hand and a cigarette in the other, tell me this person knows what is going on around them. Anyone know why the state has not made it a law yet?
Absolutely, people can’t keep their minds on the road as it is. Is it really that big of an inconvenience to put an ear piece in, or put it on speaker phone? Better yet, wait 10 minutes till you reach your destination. When you get in an accident, one of thing the police will check is your phone to make sure you were not talking/texting while driving. Obviously it’s a determining factor for complacency

I agree with scaife, what could be so important, that you couldn't wait until arriving home to make/recieve a phone call ?
