A little rethought… Some areas there is no need for a PD, Duboistown is a good example. I think it should be considered on a case by case basis. I may have spoken too soon. I still don’t think public safety cutbacks is the answer though. @Jeff33, Come on man, if we don’t have the Duboistown cops, who will protect the town from people doing 5mph over the speed limit as they enter from Nesbit? LOL
Taking away local authorities is not the answer to saving a few dollars. I can’t even believe this is a topic of thought. I think that most people have this false sense of security and that we live in a quiet little area. People need to wake up, step back and really look at what’s going on around them. Less local law enforcement is by far the dumbest thing I have heard yet. If I need to call 911 I need them now, not when they can get there because they are 2 townships away.
the same amount of police force members in areas already having a police force would be required to provide the same amount of protection. My dad moved us 4 kids and my mom to Loyalsock Twp. in 1954 to get away from onerous taxes. Loyalsock is still protected by PSP and is very satisfied with response time.
These small towns and townships should regionalized some of these towns like Duboistown don't need a police dept. its a waste of tax money! All those years they paid for Matt Dillons salary and he went around calling it his town and then puts his family in charge and thinks he still in control probably is. The town is afraid of him all those years and still are Duboistown should contract out to south!
As long as the regional force is not established to suppliment the Williamsport Dept. which the city refuses to adequately staff. My tax dollars should not pay for City P.D. Once again the city expects the surrounding communities to pay for their underfunded services......
