Passenger accused of fictitious report
A Philadelphia man is accused of giving state police a false name and birthdate when he was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over on Fifth Avenue June 25.
Police charged Andre A. Wise, 21, with a count of filing a false report.
He was arraigned Saturday by District Judge James G. Carn.
Wise signed $1,500 bail and was released.

Westfield man charged with simple assault
ELKLAND - Lynn Scott Fay, 38, of 230 Walnut St., Westfield, was charged by Westfield police with simple assault, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment in Elkland District Court.
According to court records, on July 12, Fay pushed a woman in the chest, twisted her left arm behind her back and threatened to break it while at a laundromat on Church Street in Westfield. He also said he would beat her at the laundromat and at a nearby restaurant, according to police.
Fay was arrested on July 16 and committed to the Tioga County Prison on $5,000 bail. An arraignment is set for Aug. 17 before President Judge Robert E. Dalton Jr.
Hunting equipment worth $9,500 stolen
TOWANDA - State police said about $9,500 worth of rifles and hunting equipment owned by a Rome man was stolen late last month.
The items were owned by William Snyder Jr. after someone broke into his Lamp Road, Windham Township, home between July 27-30, police said.
Burglars target electronics near Milton
MILTON - Electronics valued at $2,100 were stolen in two separate burglaries Sunday morning in Buffalo Township, Union County, state police said.
The items, owned by Nicole Gemberling and Corey Shiffer, were taken from a Century Village residence between 3-11:45 a.m.
Electronics allegedly stolen include a video game system, laptop computer and iPod device.
In a separate burglary, police said nearly $400 in electronics were stolen from Timothy A. and Ruth Ann Yoder at a Keefer Road residence between 9:20 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. A computer and camera were taken, police said.
Resident captures suspected burglar
A man reportedly apprehended an individual who allegedly was attempting to burglarize his Eldred Township home Saturday and detained him until state police arrived at the residence.
Adam W. Varano, 23, of 661 Yeagle Road, Montoursville allegedly attempted to climb into a window at 5983 Warrensville Road. He is accused of smashing the window at 1 a.m. with a cast metal bell he found there.
The unidentified homeowner caught Varano as he was entering the residence, police said.
Charged by police with burglary, criminal trespass, attempted burglary, criminal mischief and prowling, Varano was arraigned Monday by District Judge Kenneth T. Schriner Jr.
Varano was committed to the county prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
2 charged for Grant Street home burglary
Two local men are accused by city police of conspiring together in the Sunday afternoon burglary of a home at 431 Grant St.
Lawrence Lee Harper III, 20, and Jose Daniel Morales-Vazquez, 21, who both recently lived at 326 Bridge St., are accused of acting together in the 1:50 p.m. theft of a cell phone owned by Karle Chea.
Harper allegedly pushed a resident, Angelina Vazquez, into a glass window in a reported struggle for a set of car keys. Police said she suffered cuts and bruises to her right arm.
Morales-Vazquez and Harper were arraigned Sunday by District Judge James G. Carn on burglary, robbery and trespass conspiracy charges.
Harper also was charged with simple assault, theft and criminal mischief.
Both men were unable to post their $75,000 bail and are incarcerated at the county prison.
