SUNBURY – Chad Dixon and Gary Bush have had one of the best rivalries in District 4 the past four years and many times all eyes are on them, particularly in the 400. But prior to Saturday’s Susquehanna Valley Conference meet, the last time the two went head-to-head, Bush suffered an injury and Dixon won easily.
Bush gave a great effort Saturday, but Dixon staved off Bush and captured the 400 Saturday at Shikellamy High School.
Bush injured himself two weeks ago at the Lock Haven University Classic and said he hadn’t competed in a fast race until Saturday. Bush started quickly and was neck-and-neck with Dixon until they made the turn home. From there, Dixon, who owns the area’s best time in the 400 (50.11), outlasted Bush and Danville’s Mike Wright.
“He got out pretty quick. I saw how fast he was going and I knew I had to pick up my speed a little bit,” Dixon said.
