Lock Haven fire displaces 8 people
LOCK HAVEN — Eight people, including six children, were displaced after an electrical fire caused extensive smoke damage at a two-family home at 203-205 S. Summit St. Wednesday night, City Fire Chief Norm Wolfrom reported. Displaced are Virginia Bowman, who lives on the 205 S. Summit St. side of the house with her three sons — Josiah, 19; Jonathan, 16; and Micah, 13. Also displaced are Susan Mikitko of 203 S. Summit St. and her three children, between the ages of 8 months and 8 years, Wolfrom said. Bowman and her children were home at the time of the fire, at around 8:30 p.m., Wolfrom said, while the Mikitko family was away. There were no injuries. olfrom said the Red Cross is taking care of both families with shelter and clothing until they can return to the double-house. Neither had renters insurance, he said. The house, owned by Tom Beaty of Beech Creek, was insured.
