RVs Still, Sizzle with Luxury Options
Recreational vehicles, while taking a hit from high fuel prices, still can sizzle with attractive options, local dealers said. The campers and RVs of today are a far cry from what people pulled behind their cars and pickups 35 years ago, said Brad Rhone, owner of Rhone’s, 4368 Lycoming Creek Road. Luxury and room definitely are in. “Something that is not relatively new is the slideouts, which expands room in an RV,” he explained. “Today, it is common to have two slideouts in the travel trailers, and in motor homes, three or four slideouts is getting to be commonplace.” More room, extras Just how much extra room can those slideouts offer? It can amount to a lot. “In terms of square footage, they can be 3 feet by 12 or 15 feet, so you can get, on average, an extra 36 to 60 square feet of extra room and up to 75 to 80 square feet in the larger machines,” Rhone said. Today’s RVs and tow-behind trailers are as comfortable as modern homes, dealers said.
