Concern and compassion has been replaced with greed and idealism in our country. We judge our education system by the amount of money we invest in it, not by the finished project. For example, the assault on a 12-year old boy on a Jersey Shore School Bus by an 18-year-old and three other teenage students. This nontraditional attack, which lasted for 15 or 20 minutes, should have been quelled in a minute. It’s about time we put a bus driver behind the wheel of every school bus who has the authority and ability to control any situation that may arise, while he or she is the responsible commander of said vehicle. This victim was not being protected by the school district. Was the bus driver incapable of rendering assistance or did one of our lame and defunct child protection laws in every school bus, cannot prevent injury or death to a student, but immediate intervention by the operator of the school bus could.
