Williamsport Music Club awards $1,000
The Williamsport Music Club held its Gala Spring Concert April 29 at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Gary Boerckel directed the Gesang Verein Harmonia Choruses, which performed many songs in German. The choruses were accompanied by Yvonne Mitchell. Boerckel and Mitchell also performed a piano duet.
Macullen Byham played the viola, accompanied by Cathy Byham. Jane Landon and Carol Waltz performed a piano and organ duet.
During the event, the club presented the Williamsport Music Club-Budd Scholarship of $1,000 to Williamsport Area High School senior Brian Mextorf. The award was presented by co-chairwomen Doris Tufel and Marilyn Burget. Afterward, Mextorf performed, accompanied by Timothy Levan.
Robert Bowersox directed the Williamsport Music Club Vocal Ensemble in four numbers.
Charles and Jean Moyer were the ushers for the evening and Carol Waltz was the program chairwoman.
Gardening program set for DAR meeting
Nancy Baumgartner will present “Mother, a Family’s Master Gardener” at Lycoming Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Mother’s Day luncheon Tuesday in the Hillside Events Catering Banquet Room, Best Western Inn, 1840 E. Third St.
