Groundhog hunts planned
June 7, 2008

MILL HALL - The Southern Cinton Youth Hunter Education Challenge will hold two groundhog hunts this year. The first will be June 7.

The hunt will start at daybreak and end at 8 p.m. All hunters must attend the weigh-in at 8 p.m. at Miller's Gun Shop, 6945 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall.

Groundhogs must be shot on the day of the hunt and organizers reserve the right to reject any questionable animals. Groundhogs sporting tire tracks will be disqualified!

Participants must obey all state hunting rules and regulations and must ask landowners for permission to hunt.

Prizes will be awarded in the following way: First place, for largest groundhog; second place, most combined weight of all groundhogs shot by one participant; third place, smallest groundhog. In addition, a 50/50 fundraiser will be held.

The entry fee is $10 per participant. Advance registration is encouraged.

All rules also apply to the second hunt, which will be held on July 19. For more information, call 726-7620.
