COUDERSPORT - The Potter County Education Council and the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund and Association will sponsor a four-week course titled Astronomy 101 beginning on April 23.
Topics will include theories on how the universe formed and what it is doing now, the planets in our solar system and our sun and moon. Each program also will include a "what's in the sky tonight" segment that will cover the spring constellations and major star groups for this time of year.
The cost for each class is $10 or $35 for all four. Classes will be held April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 15 and will be held at the Coudersport office of the Potter County Education Council. Enrollment is limited, so register early.
Instructors are Stash Nawrocki, owner of Crystal Spheres: Adventures in Stargazing and a regular guest astronomer at Cherry Springs, and Maxine Harrison, director of the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund and Association and winner of the 2007 Parks and Forests Foundation Outstanding Education Program Award.
